The 2012 Lowcountry Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association celebrated their annual banquet on August 2 at the Shriner's Hall in Mount Pleasant. A large crowd gathered for the sponsor-only happy hour at 5 and then other member filled the space to capacity by 6, before Supper at 7 by Charleston Bay Gourmet catering. This QDMA branch puts an emphasis on taking a kid hunting, and sponsored several youths to hunt at the Niederhoff Seed Orchard in Tilman, which is owned by the S.C. Forestry Commission. The Lowcountry branch also puts a focus on venison donations, running them through Cordray's Processing in Ravenel. Many outstanding hunting and fishing trips were auctioned to raise money that will fund future youth hunts and more QDM awareness in the Lowcountry Outdoors.
