2014 Salkehatchie Longbeards banquet

Gobbler Bronze and stamp collage!!

Once again, the timing for this turkey banquet was RIGHT before opening day, which tends to draw a crowd of outdoor enthusiasts. Saturday March 8 at the Walterboro Armory the Salkehatchie Longbeards Chapter of the NWTF celebrated conservation with a quail supper and fundraising activities. This chapter has more than 100 sponsors annually and is recognized each year as one of the best NWTF chapters in the nation, and is a source of Good News from Colleton County. With support from Bank of Walterboro, The Colletonian newspaper, farmers, loggers - this operation is proven as trustworthy and good-natured. And thanks to Guy Harvey Inc. for partnering with Lowcountry Outdoors in an effort to raise awareness about conservation. Auction items included lots of turkey and quail hunts, plus the usual motherlode of NWTF branded merchandise that everyone loves. Diamond Life Sponsor member Scott Crosby was in attendance, along with other leaders and businessmen in the community. Of course, with the countdown until March 15, we all may have 'a touch' of turkey fever now, and its just a matter of time until it comes down to one shot - and fate will determine whether it is a hit or a miss. The memories are a guarantee either way.
