2016 Criterium Cycling Race - Speed Week

2016 Event Flyer
Cycling racer with one arm!
Perfect weather accompanied the 14th annual Downtown Walterboro Criterium. It's a part of the USA Crits Speed Week of bike racing that passes through the state of South Carolina in Spring. While the annual race in Beaufort was canceled for 2016, the City of Walterboro remained committed to raising enough money to host the event once again.
Waiting for the Masters Race to start

A tight pack rounds a tight turn
The format begins at 4 p.m. with a Masters race of older, veteran riders. Of note in this contest was the first one-armed cycling competitor that I have witnessed. That gent did not win the race, but when it comes to the game of life I can write that he is  - Winning! Next up was a fun-for-all youth race that takes place on a short track with lots of supervision.

A Pro women's race and a Pro men's contest round out the events, as local businesses rally to promote this community
endeavor with food, drink, bleachers and lots of outdoor entertainment. To view the final results click on CRITS.
