Family Circle Cup heads to weekend play

World Number One Caroline Wozniacki dispatched opponents Irena Falconi and Zahlavova Strycov in straight sets during play on Wednesday and Thursday. The tournament's No. 2 seed Sam Stosur did not fare nearly as well and was defeated on Thursday by Russian Elena Vesnina. American Christina McHale was able to upset the No. 10 seed Daniela Hantuchova, while the No. 7 seed Petrova and No. 5 seed Peer were also ousted before weekend play at the 2011 Family Circle Cup.
