2012 Governor's Cup Awards reception

The Governor's Mansion hosts these annual awards
The 24th annual South Carolina Governor's Cup Billfishing Series Awards reception was held in Columbia on September 30 at the Governor's Mansion. Welcoming award winners and their guests to the event were SCDNR Director Alvin Taylor, SCDNR Board Chair Johnny Evans, past board chair Mike McShane, Gov. Cup Director Wallace Jenkins and Robert Boyles, the Deputy Director for the Marine Resources at Fort Johnson. The Outstanding Billfish Boat for 2012 is Caramaba and owner Bob Faith and a large contingent of family and crew were on hand to accept the perpetual trophy. Captain Dale Lackey and Bob Faith have won this award a total of three times now - Congrats! Captain Stevie Leasure and the crew of the Summer Girl accepted the Bluewater Conservationist Award for tagging and releasing 21 dolphin during the series. The first place outstanding youth angler is Rance Jennings fishing from Micabe. The first place outstanding lady angler is Holly McAlhany fishing from Syked Out. The 2012 Outstanding dolphin was reeled in by Stephen Craig aboard Compromise, and weighed 56.4-pounds. The 2012 Outstanding Tuna was hauled aboard Wildlife by angler Joanna Strickland, pushing the scales to 25.8-pounds. The 2012 Outstanding Wahoo, caught from Big Kahuna, weighed 61.0-pounds for Rhett Spencer. The 22nd Carolina Shootout teams were recognized and Caramba, Home Run, Sportin' Life, Sadie Beth, Micabe and Syked Out are ready to take on the North Carolina Shootout Team in a bluewater contest in 2013.
