Monster Halloween buck with 13-points - R.I.P.

What a buck for Pierre Manigault - the Ghost Buck
13-points of beauty pointing up, down and to the side
On All Hallow's Eve in the Santee Delta a friendly hunt party departed for their deer stands at 5:30. By 6:05 a seemingly other-worldy buck came into view for Pierre Manigault. Despite a case of buck fever after viewing this Ghost Stag, his Ruger 30.06-rifle delivered a fatal blow to the 145-pound buck. Sitting in a ladder stand on the edge of a mighty oak grove, Manigault was facing a mix of pines and hardwoods. Protected from the wind, and free of mosquitos, the hunting conditions were nearly perfect. The beautiful buck appeared 45-yards to his left at 6 p.m., and paused to study the open ground before proceeding to eat acorns. Manigault used his rifle scope to examine the rack and he saw eight-points upright with two long droptines in the mix, and he knew this buck had an awful lot going on with his headgear. A few more steps and the buck presented an easy shot at 40-yards, and Manigault closed the deal. When he walked over to the buck, still shaking like a leaf, he could not comprehend the grande-size rack on this buck. With a 22-inch outside spread, one droptine is 7-inches and the other droptine is 6-inches, with the longest tine being the 8-inch G3 tine. Despite the property being under intense wildlife management, this buck had NEVER been seen, spotted on trail cam or even imagined. Now this buck will make a fine trophy mount, and it will forever supply the fireside banter about the biggest buck Manigault ever saw. Having shot the buck an hour before dark, Manigault loaded the deer up in his truck and headed back to hunt camp, where he waited another 45-minutes for his friends to finish their hunt. David Ingle, Thomas Morrison and Billy Glenn could not believe what a beautiful buck their buddy had shot. Halloween of 2012 will go down as a TREAT for Manigault and friends, with the Santee Delta producing one of the most unique bucks anywhere!
