Dr. Guy Harvey loaned his artwork and brand name to the S.C. Education Lottery for a limited time scratch off ticket game. Customers could buy a ticket for $5 and then scratch to see if they won a monetary prize. After payouts, the Guy Harvey ticket proceeds were directed to a few special conservation programs in the area. The South Carolina Aquarium and it's sea turtle initiative has been a favorite of Dr. Harvey's for years now, and now he brings his financial support to raise awareness about the conservation of sharks. A newer endeavor based in the Lowcountry, but no less important, is the Dolphinfish Research Program run by Don Hammond of James Island. Hammond's program was the focus of my feature article in Guy Harvey magazine back in 2011 and the program has been gaining stature each successive year. For more details from Dr. Guy Harvey's remarks in my feature article click on Colletonian.
