Mojo's on the Harbor dominates the Marina |
When the ferry to Bald Head Island turns into the marina to dock, the inviting facade of
Mojo's on the Harbor beckons visitors to make a stop there. My first night on Bald Head Island included dining on the starters, salads, sushi and fresh seafood entrees at Mojo's while sitting on the outside deck. A gentle breeze brushed across the tables where a polite crowd were gathering for the dinner hour, while soft reggae music poured out of the speaker system.

Mojo's serves sophisticated sushi |
Heavy clouds and a 73-degree temperature offered ambiance, as did the view of all the sailboats and transients docked at the Bald Head Island Marina. The MOJO that is served up here is the magic of good drink and imaginative American and Italian food. A full bar is available but we enjoyed wine by the glass with dinner. Owners John and Andrea Pitera opened the restaurant in 2011 and they told me that Charleston is among their top choices for favorite city.

The servers are locals, and have fun at work |

Mojo's Creme Brulee Cheesecake is a MUST |
A sushi appetizer came in the form of a spicy tuna roll, served with a side of soy sauce. Another starter, lightly fried calamari with marinara sauce, came in a heaping portion with at least 25 squid. Entrees enjoyed were the Tempura Red Grouper served with oven-roasted risotto and topped with a pineapple arugala verde sauce. The pistachio encrusted mahi mahi was pan seared and served with vegetable risotto and champagne creme sauce and sweet peas. Our server Becky was good to check on our needs during supper, and we weren't lacking for good service. She steered us towards a dessert that was a first for me, a creme brulee' cheesecake. The dessert melted away like the remainder of the setting sun and we now had out MOJO on!
