Boat ride in the swamp? - Sign Me Up Please!! |
Ocean Isle Beach seems to be a hub among the Brunswick County Islands. We drove 30-minutes in between destinations, but I report the N.C. roads are in fine shape and the commuting is easy. I signed up for a Swamp Boat Tour one morning and found a lovely piece of hardwood bottomland swamp with mature cypress trees. The tour guide was knowledgeable and I tried not to let on just how Swamp-Wise I really am!
We also visited
Silver Coast Winery, and I can relate the they do not utilize any grapes grown on the coast of N.C. - whew! They purchase grapes from areas that have altitude and seasonal changes in order to get the best tasting grapes. Here's a shout out to their white wine named Traminette - good enough even for a red wine drinker, and what a nose it has. Sweet.

I can recommend this winery after our tasting |
It was dark and raining when we arrived at The Isles Restaurant but the gist of it is that they have an ocean view dining room. Also, fisherman will be familiar with the Ocean Isle Fishing Center that is located here.
