2011 Red*Trout Celebrity Classic Kicks Off

The 2011 Red*Trout tourney committee
The 10th annual Lowcountry Red*Trout tournament is fishing to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation(CFF). Celebrating a decade of catch and release fishing practices, the Celebrity Classic is anchored this year by two fishing notables. Captain Mark Nichols of DOA Lures has made his annual trip up from Stuart, Florida in order to support the Lowcountry once again, and Blair Wiggins brings his prowess for catching mogan redfish with Wright&McGill rods, and loves to share his fishing tales from the filming of Addictive Fishing television episodes. The 2011 Red*Trout makes a return to the Charleston Harbor Marina this year, and the Captain's meeting kick-off event was held in the new Lookout Pavillion facility. A cocktail hour was filled with plenty of fishing talk as captains and anglers alike try to figure out the redfish and trout that will be sought out during fishing on Saturday and Sunday. A large silent auction and a brisk live auction led by Dave Williams and Tom Crawford helped to raise funds for CFF on a night when the weather was near perfect. Spirits were running high for October fishing success, and the local fishing guides of the Lowcountry are to be recognized and commended for sharing their time and tactics during the Red*Trout.  Longtime organizer Capt. Champ Smith has had help this year from Capt. Graham Hegamyer and CFF coordinator Alicia Parsons. Check back soon for results from this weekend's Red*Trout tournament.
