Camp Woodie Offshore Tournament

The third annual Camp Woodie Offshore Tournament will be fished in Charleston on June 12 and 13 out the of the City Marina. The South Carolina Waterfowl Association's executive director David Wielecki addressed the Captain's meeting at the Citadel End Zone facility and said that 44 youths were at Camp Woodie right now learning about hunting, fishing and conservation. This tournament raises funds to support Camp Woodie and as tournament chairman John Quattlebaum put it, Rule number one is to put these youth anglers on some fish. Amen! Lowcountryoutdoors.com is always glad to support a sporting cause that gets youths and gals involved in our outdoor heritage. Wielecki recognized the parents for all their efforts. He also spoke about his friend Tred Barta, an original tournament sponsor who has suffered a spinal stroke recently and is battling with paralyzation from the chest down - asking for everyone to keep this kindred outdoor spirit in their prayers. A pledge of allegiance to the flag was followed by Grace Wielecki's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and then a prayer. Everyone dined on Ward's Bar-B-Q and Papa John's Pizza. The tournament weigh-ins are from 4 to 7 on Friday and Saturday and eligible species are kings, tuna, dolphin and wahoo.
