The Ripley Light Yacht Club on the Ashley River in Charleston will be the setting for the 18th Annual Fishing For Miracles (FFM) King Mackerel Tournament. This is a Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) sanctioned event that benefits MUSC Children's Hospital and the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA). Teams of anglers from up and down the East Coast will be competing to weigh in the heaviest king mackerel during the two day competition in order to bring back the $25,000 first place prize and a heap of SKA points. Today's Captain's Meeting will be at 7 p.m. but head on over after work to catch up on the festivities that will include a cold beverage and a hot meal, as well as a silent auction and displays from vendors like Fishizzle Tackle. FFM is always a highly anticipated event by the CCA leadership that runs the tournament and is a good way to celebrate our heritage of fishing in the Lowcountry Outdoors.
