2015 Family Circle Cup - Tennis Tuesday

Ladies Day Out provides for mother - daughter time
The Ladies Day Out theme was in full effect during Tuesday's tennis at the Family Circle Cup (FCC) facility on Daniel Island. Hot and sunny conditions ruled the day and a full slate of matches ran from 10 a.m. until late at night and multiple courts. The crowd was scattered across those many venues rather than congregated in the Stadium Court as they will be over the weekend semis and final. For those that did camp out at the Stadium Court, not one but two three-set matches took place with past FCC champs Jelena Jancovic and Petkovic surviving long matches.

The Double Tennis was well attended
Elsewhere, the doubles tennis got underway with much fanfare and many seeded-players saw their first action. On the Althea Gibson court, the 10-seed (and Wild Card invitation) Varvara Lepchenko succombed to an injury and withdrew during the second set of her match, giving Andreea Mitu the win.  Feeling much better after her first-ever win at the FCC Sloane Stephens thanked fans after the match for standing by her the last couple of years when she faltered, saying that she hopes to do better now.
