The third edition of the Coastal Conservation Association in S.C. state convention was held on Daniel Island the first weekend in February. Friday night featured an oyster roast with select shells brought in from Murrell's Inlet, and yes those in attendance braved downright cold temps along with the way. Saltwater anglers were on there own for Saturday and CCA's Tombo Milliken told me that he chose a favorite fishing area in McClellanville and had some luck catching both red drum and trout! Too cold to fish - No Way! Hey, that sounds like a story for CCA's
TIDE magazine?! Everyone gathered back at Daniel Island for a CCA banquet on Saturday night that included catering by Lowcountry Eats, and one of a kind items like a 3-inch thick poplar wood oyster table, hunting trips, a vacation in the Abacos and state convention chairman Chris Hawley assembled a variety of attractive live auction items. CCA took a look back at 2012 by awarding the Volunteer of the Year to Richard Berry, and Chapter of the Year to
East Cooper. Also, Allison Berry made news by pledging to join CCA as a life member on Saturday night! Future partnerships were also cemented when Scout boats brought a check for $6500 to support the CCA Topwater program in the Lowcountry.
