Twenty-five boats went fishing on Day Three of the CBC (only Dem Boys was fished out) and the billfish and meatfish bite continued to be above average. Consider that 26-boats released a total of 69 billfish in three days - with 7 blue marlin and 62 sailfish accounted for, and plenty of boats had hook-ups that did not end with a release, but rather a tale of tough luck. The Reel Passion released one sailfish on Saturday, giving them a total of 6 billfish releases (1 blue and 5 sails) to win the 2012 CBC with a point total of 1600-point. Full Pull finished in second place with 1400-points on the strength of 1 blue marlin release and 4 sailfish releases. Syked Out came up a winner on Day Three as well bringing a 50.4-pound wahoo to the scales giving angler Barry Bleacher the heaviest wahoo for the CBC. The Day Two mahi (56.4-pounds) held up for 16-year old angler Steven Craig fishing from Compromise, as did the Day Two tuna (25.4-pounds) for Tommy Hancock from Dem Boys. The lady angler award went to Holly McAlhany from Syked Out for releasing 4 sailfish during the CBC, and the youth angler award went to Rance Jennings aboard Micabe for releasing one sailfish. Congrats to the 2012 CBC winners aboard Reel Passion including owner Bill Ingram, Captain Gary Richardson and mate Striker Mike Runey, who are also the
defending 2011 Gov. Cup Series champs.
